ARTMassagePDX.com

After setting up a social media network for Beth Paxson’s massage practice in 2012, and feeling constrained by the formats, and the limited text/graphics allowed, I developed a 5-6 page site, which we named “ART Massage PDX”, to brand her practice, apart from Equinox.

ART Massage PDX is the main site for Beth’s practice and it is updated regularly to better connect with, and serve her clientele and local community.  Since 2014, the site has had online booking, through Acuity Scheduling, and in early 2016, we installed a PayPal facility so clients can make payments online, for appointments, gift certificates and massage session packages.

The site is really a testing ground, so it is always developing, but we retain the basics:  a blog of recent massage-related news/information, current rates and specials, and a Friends page for friends with local businesses to have their name associated with ART Massage and Beth Paxson. There is also a gallery of photos of Eddy, our Min Pin, who is our number #1 Friend and Positive Vibe.

The Mining Option / 4C-Adapt

This is the second academic, or issue-based website I have designed, and I built a site-framework for the client to efficiently convey academic and scientific content.  Several months after I completed the site, the Client was girding for wider promotion of the site’s concepts, and the name of the project was changed to 4C-Adapt.

Ocean Front Cabins

This site was a rebuild of an older site, using WordPress.com, and it is still developing, as the proprietor learns more about the value and benefit of Ocean Front Cabins having a fresh and lively web-presence.

PATH for women

In March 2014, a PSU Professor was referred to me, with her vision for a website for an Outreach, Research and Policy organization, named PATH for women, a strategic partnership between the OHSU Center for Women’s Health (CWH) and Portland State University’s Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Department (WGSS).  I use the term “vision”, because due to various circumstances, the deployment of a website to broadcast the group’s misson, activities and initiatives, had been delayed for over a year.  I was told that the required platform for PSU networked sites was Drupal, but that I could take classes to get up to speed.  I responded that would not be necessary, and set out to learn the nuances of the Drupal web-development platform.

The site is live, on the PSU network, despite my having pointed out a couple of link issues I thought should be addressed.  The Professor was extremely pleased with the site’s appearance, functionality and with the proactive and professional manner I presented.

Astroclosets

In February, 2014, I embarked on a new, exciting website marketing and management project with a local entrepreneur who has designed a great new product for “sidewalk astronomers” around the world…the Astrocloset.

His site was designed by a local web-designer, who, in similar fashion to the Equinox site designer, used custom-designed code and features, which can seriously hamper the versatility and transferability of the site and its maintenance.

For your viewing and/or star-gazing pleasure, please visit Astroclosets.com!

S. Keller Legal Services

This is a site I prepared in Fall – 2013, for my own freelance legal services, and to also serve as a prototype, or sample for my Online Portfolio service, with reference to my Marketing site.

It is an efficient way for career-changers/job-searchers to present a variety of background information to prospective employers.  I have my resume, references, writing samples, project write-ups and a blog page for posting articles on various litigation support / discovery topics.

Equinox Acupuncture & Massage

equinoxpdx.com

(click on image to go to the site)

Equinox Acupuncture & Massage is the four practitioner collective where Beth works, and the website for Equinox was developed in 2012 using WordPress, but was never updated over the first year.  I thought I could help in that regard, but I had not yet used WordPress (this was prior to moving ARTMassagePDX to WordPress.com), so I reproduced the EquinoxPDX WordPress site on Weebly, to compare functionalities. In anticipation of being given the reins, I learned to develop websites using WordPress.

The original Equinox site was built using a theme that is now apparently obsolete, so to remedy the site’s issues with regard to its appearance on smaller screens (iPhones, Androids, Tablets), I created two WordPress Demo sites with more flexible, responsive  themes.

A few months later, I was given responsibility for the website’s maintenance, and to try to remedy some formatting issues that had never been addressed, namely the left sidebar disappearing act, when viewed on smaller-screened devices.  The site’s initial design remained the same, but its functionality dramatically improved.  I was unable to work with the custom parent/child theme’s limitations when trying to address the sidebar matter, so the site has transitioned from WordPress.org to WordPress.com, and is now available for review.

These are two demo sites I designed for GPCC in 2012, and a Suzuki Violin program in 2013, using the Weebly platform.

GPCC - Marketing By (Web)Design draft

The GPCC site was to serve as a replacement site for the company’s original website.  A primary goal of the site, I was told, was to convey the environmental benefits of pet-waste composting while also trying to get people to get over the “yuck factor” associated with the concept.  I tried to incorporate media coverage and e-commerce functions to maximize the site’s utility.

  • The GA Website Demo - home pageSuzuki webpage is an example of a preliminary site structure I prepared for a prospective client, which I have replaced with…

GADemo-2014

… a  foundational, or sample site on WordPress.com (to left), and I await (some day…) the go-ahead to further develop this site.

Thanks for checking out my web-design work!  I hope we can work together to develop your web-presence!

Best,

Steve
